I have a complicated relationship with Zapier. It is the easiest automation tool to use. It has the most integrations (7,000+). And it is the most expensive option by a wide margin. We still recommend it to certain clients -- but not as many as we used to. Here is why, and here is what every plan costs right now.
Zapier Plans (February 2026)
Free: $0/month
- 100 tasks per month (was 750 until 2024 -- massive reduction)
- 5 active Zaps (workflows)
- Single-step Zaps only (trigger → 1 action)
- 15-minute update time
- All 7,000+ integrations
- No premium apps
Honest take: 100 tasks per month is almost useless. That is about 3 tasks per day. A single form that gets 5 submissions per day will use your entire monthly quota in 20 days. And single-step Zaps (trigger → one action) are so limiting that most useful workflows are impossible. The free plan is now a demo, not a tool.
Professional: $29.99/month (annual) or $49.99/month (monthly)
- 750 tasks per month
- Unlimited active Zaps
- Multi-step Zaps (trigger → multiple actions)
- Filters and Paths (conditional logic)
- Formatter and Webhooks
- 2-minute update time
- Premium apps (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)
Honest take: Professional is the minimum plan for actual business use. 750 tasks handles 2-3 low-to-medium-frequency workflows. The multi-step Zaps unlock is essential -- without it, you cannot do anything useful. At $29.99/month for 750 tasks, you are paying $0.04 per task. Make.com charges $0.001 per operation for equivalent volume. That is a 40x price difference per unit of automation.
Team: $103.50/month (annual, 25 tasks-pack unit pricing)
- 2,000 tasks per month (base)
- Unlimited users in workspace
- Shared app connections
- Shared folders and permissions
- 1-minute update time
- SAML SSO available
- Premier support
Honest take: The jump from Professional ($29.99 for 750 tasks) to Team ($103.50 for 2,000 tasks) is brutal. You are paying 3.4x more for 2.7x more tasks. The per-task cost actually goes up slightly. The value is in the shared workspace and team features -- if you have 3+ people managing automations, Team makes sense. Otherwise, multiple Professional accounts might be cheaper.
Enterprise: Custom pricing
- Custom task volumes
- Advanced admin and governance
- SAML SSO included
- 99.9% uptime SLA
- Dedicated success manager
- Annual contracts required
Task Pack Add-Ons
When you exceed your included tasks, Zapier charges for additional packs:
- +1,000 tasks: ~$15/month
- +5,000 tasks: ~$60/month
- +10,000 tasks: ~$100/month
At 10,000 tasks on Professional + add-ons, you are paying roughly $130/month. The same volume on Make.com costs about $20-30/month. On n8n Cloud Pro, about $50/month. On n8n self-hosted, about $30/month for unlimited.
Why Zapier Is Still Worth It for Some Businesses
Despite the price, we still recommend Zapier to about 30% of our clients. Here is why:
- 7,000+ integrations: Zapier connects to more apps than any other platform. If you need a niche CRM, industry-specific tool, or obscure SaaS product, Zapier probably has the integration. Make has ~1,500. n8n has ~400.
- Easiest to use: Zapier's linear interface requires zero training for most people. Make's visual canvas has a learning curve. n8n requires comfort with semi-technical concepts.
- AI actions: Zapier's built-in AI (ChatGPT integration, AI-powered formatting) works out of the box with no API key setup.
- Reliability: Zapier has the most mature infrastructure. Fewer downtime incidents than Make or n8n Cloud in our experience.
When to Switch Away from Zapier
- Monthly spend exceeds $100: At this point, the savings from Make or n8n are significant enough to justify migration effort.
- You need code in workflows: Zapier's Code step is limited. n8n's Code node is a full JavaScript/Python environment.
- You need AI/LLM integration at scale: Calling OpenAI or Anthropic APIs through Zapier burns tasks fast and is expensive. n8n with self-hosted has no per-execution cost.
- You have a developer on staff: If someone can manage n8n, the unlimited self-hosted option at $30/month is a no-brainer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Zapier still free in 2026?
Technically yes, but the free plan now caps at 100 tasks per month with single-step Zaps only. It is useful for trying Zapier, not for running actual business automations. You will hit the limit within the first week of real use.
Why is Zapier so expensive compared to alternatives?
Zapier invests heavily in integrations (7,000+ apps), ease of use, and infrastructure reliability. You are paying for the ecosystem and convenience. If you value those things, the premium is justified. If you do not, cheaper alternatives exist.
Can I migrate from Zapier to Make or n8n?
There is no automated migration tool for either direction. Workflows need to be rebuilt manually. Simple Zaps (2-3 steps) take 10-15 minutes to recreate. Complex multi-path Zaps take 30-60 minutes. We have migrated clients with 20+ Zaps in 2-3 days.
Does Zapier offer discounts?
Annual billing saves about 35% over monthly. Nonprofits get 15% off. Startups in select accelerator programs may get credits. There are no regular sales or promotional discounts.
